FAQS
project Project table data along a line or great circle, generate a profile track, or translate coordinates.

mapproject Forward and inverse map transformation of coordinate systems for table data. This command reads (longitude, latitude) positions from the specified files, or command line, and computes new (x,y) coordinates using the specified map projection and scales. Optionally, it can read (x,y) positions and compute (longitude, latitude) values doing the inverse transformation, which may be utilized to transform linear (x,y) points obtained by, eg. digitizing a map of known projection to geographical coordinates. "maproject" may also calculate distances along a track, to a fixed point, or closest approach to a line, and can be used to perform various datum conversions.
grdproject Project gridded data sets onto a new coordinate system. It will either transform a gridded data set from a rectangular coordinate system onto a geographical system by resampling the surface at the new nodes, or, it will project a geographical gridded data set onto a rectangular grid. The new nodes are filled based on a simple weighted average of nearby points. Aliasing is avoided by using sensible values for the search_radius. The new node spacing may be determined in one of several ways by specifying the grid spacing, number of nodes, or resolution. Nodes not constrained by input data are set to NaN.
