FAQS

GRASS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System
, is a Geographic Information System (GIS) combining powerful raster, vector, and geospatial processing engines into a single integrated software suite. GRASS includes tools for spatial modeling, visualization of raster and vector data, management and analysis of geospatial data, the processing of satellite and aerial imagery, along with the capability to produce sophisticated presentation graphics and hardcopy maps.

Grass is The open source alternative to ArcGIS® bundled with their spendy spatial analysis module. A less capable configuration can easily cost more than US $20,000. GRASS is a complete geographical operating system; with about 350 powerful, geo-spatial modules.
