By simply double-clicking on the OpenOSX package, install Grass (Geographic
Resources Analysis Support System) GIS (Geographical Information System)
Pre 2 for Mac OS X in minutes. Grass is the most complete and sophisticated
open-source GIS, now in development for twenty years.
The OpenOSX Pre 2 CD offers Mac OS 10.0.x through 10.1 compatibility (including
dual-processors), additional modules, along with bug fixes.
With over 350 modules, Grass is the only real alternative to ArcView GIS,
which fully-configured will cost more than US$20,000 and is not supported
on Macintoshes.
Grass GIS offers state of the art three-dimensional dynamic spatial analysis
and visualization. Users of Grass include NASA, USGS (U.S. Geological Survey)
and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) to name a few.
The OpenOSX CD greatly simplifies installation and installs a long list
of all the required libraries and programs for full functionality. The
CD is bundled with complete documentation and limited installation support.
