I'm the proud owner of a new Intel iMac - will WinTel run well on my system?
Absolutely! You have an ideal machine, Windows 98 has been tested to boot in 15 seconds on the 2GHz Intel Duo iMac.

Do WinTel and Bochs use Rosetta or are they Intel-native?
The Intel calls are native, no longer requiring translation when emulating the host operating system when running on the Intel based Macintoshes.

How is the performance of WinTel/Bochs compared to VirtualPC?
VirtualPC is not known to work on the new Intel Macs, however we can say that WinTel is much faster runnning Windows 98 on the on the new intel Macintoshes than VPC is running on a fast G5 . PowerPCs, the performance is very similar to VirtualPC. We do not recommend using WinTel for CPU intensive applications running on the PowerPC based Macintoshes.

Can I use my USB device with WinTel?
At this time there is limited USB support.


Is it OK to sell open source software?
Absolutely, provided it is in agreement with the license, which we always are. According to the GPL, open source software is: "freedom of speech not as in freedom of beer". Most open source software is free to use as you please, provided you make any changes available to the public. In fact Mac OS X itself is largely based on numerous open source projects. OpenOSX has contributed to many open source projects including Bochs and GRASS GIS that users on Mac OS X use with or without buying any of our software and that is open source at work.

We do. To be added to our Announce List please send an e-mail to announce@OpenOSX.com with "subscribe" in the subject line. To be removed from the list send an e-mail with "unsubscribe" in the subject line.



How long to you estimate the lag time between a new release of code to having a web based update available?
We estimate new CD's to released about every 4 to 6 weeks. The lag time should be no more then 2 weeks after a significant new version of the software has been released. Ideally the lag time should in most cases be around a week's time.

Do you have a European distributor?
No we currently do not have a distributor in Europe though we are looking into our options.
