Creating an ISO-9660 Disk Image

This tutorial will guide you through creating a disk image that you may use as a CD-ROM disk image with WinTel.

Creating a disk image from CD-ROMs is STRONGLY recommended; it is MUCH faster to create a disk image in Mac OS X than it is to read the CD-ROM in emulation.

You may click on the image for an enlargement.

1. Insert the CD-ROM to image. It is important that the disk is ISO-9660 format and not HFS or HFS+. If the disk is not ISO-9660, it is possible to first convert the CD to ISO-9660 by creating a disk of your HFS/HFS+ disk with Toast or the Finder.

Remember, Windows/PC's cannot read HFS/HFS+ formatted disks so WinTel cannot either!

2.Launch WinTel, and choose "Image CD-ROM...". Select the Volume that you would like to image.

3. Select the Volume that you would like to image.
4. Choose where you want to save the .img file.
6. Save the image. It is not recommended to use spaces or special characters in the file name.
7. That's it, just let "WinTel" finish. Depending on the size of the image, it usually takes between 3 and 10 minutes to image a CD-ROM.
